Saint Patrick´s Day - Dia de São Patrício da Irlanda
A data “17 de Março” representa a comemoração do dia de Saint Patrick no Reino Unido, principalmente na Irlanda, país de origem desta lenda. Este dia também é celebrada nos Estados Unidos, Austrália e demais países da comunidade Britânica, com grandes desfiles, fantasias e danças Irlandesas em comemorações nas grandes cidades.
A história conta que “São Patrício”, como influente líder, foi responsável pela unificação da Irlanda. Ele utilizava um trevo verde de 3 folhas para ensinar sobre a “Santíssima Trindade”, e por isso também o hábito de vestir verde nesta data, decorando com trevos, fitas verdes e também a cartola verde dos duendes, entidades ligadas à cultura Celta Irlandesa e também associados ao Saint Patrick, tornando esta data um feriado público nacional naquele país.
Aqui no CECAM, após leitura cultural, assistimos aos desfiles ao vivo do Reino Unido, e pedimos aos alunos que venham vestidos de verde nessa data para também realizarmos o feitio das cartolas verdes (Top Hats) do “Leprechaun” (duende). Desta forma comemoramos o St. Patrick’s Day no Cecam, o maior festival mundial da cultura Irlandesa.
Saint Patrick´s Day
March 17th represents the commemoration of Saint Patrick’s Day in the United Kingdom, especially in Ireland, the home country to this legend. This day is also celebrated in the U.S.A. and Australia, with great parades in bigger cities.
St. Patrick was responsible for the unification of Ireland, so he´s also known as the Saint Patron of Ireland and used a 3-leaf clover to teach about the Holy Trinity, so it brought the tradition of wearing green, clovers and ribbons, but also the Leprechaun hat, as a character from the Celtic/Irish culture linked to St. Patrick’s celebrations which have become a national public Holiday in that country.
Here at CECAM, we ask students to come wearing green on this day and guide them into making their own Top Hat (Leprechaun’s hat) as we celebrate the greatest festival of the Irish culture in the world.
